The Zhezkazgan Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP), operated by Kazakhmys Energy LLP, has enhanced its energy generation capacity ahead of the 2025–2026 heating season.

This year, the plant will begin operations with six boiler units, with plans to bring a seventh online during the season. In previous years, the CHP typically operated with only four or five boilers. The increased capacity will provide greater reliability in heat supply to both residents and critical social infrastructure.

A comprehensive program of repairs and modernization was carried out as part of the plant's seasonal preparations. Overhaul works have been completed on key boiler and turbine units, the power supply system has been upgraded and new filters have been installed to improve operational efficiency.

The plant is also undergoing large-scale modernization. Boiler unit No. 10 has been dismantled and will be replaced with a more advanced system. In addition, the reconstruction of the power supply scheme for the coastal pumping station has been completed.

As part of the construction works, the roof of the central section of the turbine hall has been renovated at a cost of approximately KZT 1 bln. In total, over KZT 12.6 bln has been allocated for winter preparations, KZT 5 bln from the state budget and KZT 7.6 bln through private investment.

All work is being carried out in accordance with a schedule approved by KEGOC JSC and is under strict supervision by technical oversight teams.

According to the directive of the city governor, the Zhezkazgan CHP will commence supplying heat to the urban networks operated by Heat and Power Generation JSC on October 6.
