Kazakhmys Upgrades Ventilation System at Copper Smelter
At the Zhezkazgan Copper Smelter, part of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, a project is underway to install modern ventilation systems in the cathode section of the copper electrolysis shop. The initiative is aimed at enhancing industrial safety and improving working conditions for employees.
The electrolysis process at the section operates around the clock. During production, process-related dust is generated in the working area, requiring an efficient air exchange system, especially considering that the shop belongs to the category of hot-production facilities.
As part of the project, more than 50 modern ventilation units are planned to be installed. The equipment ensures the removal of contaminated and heated air, reduces dust concentration, and improves overall air circulation within the facility.
Some of the ventilation units have been installed near window openings, allowing cooler air to enter the shop and helping maintain a stable microclimate in the working area.
The project was launched in early 2026. Currently, equipment installation is at the final stage.
The next phase includes modernization of the shop’s overall ventilation system, which will further improve the efficiency of air exchange.
The project is part of Kazakhmys’ ongoing efforts to modernize production processes, enhance safety standards, and improve working conditions.
