The new standard is an evolution of the well-known OHSAS 18001 standard, adopted in 1999. Its main difference is in the deeper integration of security issues into the operational activities of the organization, the expanded role of senior management and relations with contractors, partners and suppliers. This means that security issues will become a natural and integral part of the daily work of every manager in the Company. To support the process of transition to the new standard, work is underway to automate the collection and analysis of information on the risks of injuries, accidents, dangerous conditions and behavior in the workplace. The plans for 2021 are to certify the first enterprise – the Balkhash Copper Smelter. The work on preparing for certification has already started with the involvement of an expert company in the field of international certification in the market of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Next year it is planned to ensure compliance with the new standard of 50% of the main assets of Kazakhmys Holding LLP.
