Geophysical Surveys launched on the flanks of the Zhezkazgan Ore Field
As part of its program to replenish the mineral resource base and increase reserves at existing mines and shafts, Kazakhmys Corporation has commenced geophysical exploration on the flanks of the Zhezkazgan ore district and adjacent territories.
The research is being conducted by Qazaq Geophysics. As part of the project, specialists have begun electrical prospecting using the near-field transient electromagnetic sounding method (NFTEM) at three sites located on the flanks and deeper horizons of operating mining facilities.
The objective of the work is to study the geoelectrical structure of the surveyed areas and to identify key structural elements, including the depth and thickness of major geoelectrical horizons.
The total length of the survey lines exceeds 30 linear kilometers.
The results of the geophysical studies will serve as a basis for decisions on further geological exploration activities in the region.
