As part of a working visit to Ulytau region, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan Svetlana Zhakupova visited the production sites of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP. During the visit, she familiarized herself with the working conditions of employees and the measures of support introduced under the company’s new Collective Agreement for 2025–2029.

The Minister also met with employees who had experienced occupational injuries or work-related illnesses. During the discussion Nurakhmet Nuriev, the Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, proposed replacing the existing monthly employer-funded compensation payments of 10 MCI with voluntary medical insurance, which would cover medical expenses of up to KZT 2.5 mln in case of illness.

Minister Svetlana Zhakupova outlined the initiatives being undertaken by her Ministry to ensure safe working conditions and to strengthen the social protection of Kazakhstanis employed in hazardous industries.

At the Zhylandy mine Sayat Bakirov the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, presented the Minister with a comprehensive plan for modernizing infrastructure, improving labor conditions and enhancing industrial safety standards.

Following the visit, Svetlana Zhakupova noted that the new Kazakhmys Collective Agreement demonstrates a systematic and integrated approach to labor relations and employee welfare.

Among the new provisions of the Collective Agreement are:

·  a fivefold increase in payments upon the birth of a child compared to the previous agreement;

·  similar payments for employees entering into marriage;

·  and new support measures for workers raising children with special needs.

Kazakhmys remains a socially oriented enterprise, implementing some of the most extensive programs in the industry in the areas of occupational health and safety, voluntary medical insurance, and the support of labor dynasties. The total budget for social programs within the Group for 2025 exceeds KZT 12.4 bln.
