On June 1, the International Day for Protection of Children, the cities of Zhezkazgan, Satpayev and Balkhash hosted vibrant festivities for children and their families. City squares filled with music, concerts, contests, dancing and games with entertainers. Children took part in the «Süyikti Qalam (My favourite city)» art zone, performed on the mini-stage “A Moment of Glory by the Fountain” and received sweets and treats for participating.

The celebration combined entertainment with environmental awareness. As part of the «Clean City – Happy Childhood» campaign, children collected plastic waste and exchanged it for treats. In total, around three KAMAZ truckloads of waste were gathered.

In Satpayev, Kazakhmys completed the landscaping of a new recreation area opposite the Sh. Dildebayev Cultural Center just in time for the holiday. The site now features paving, newly planted trees, children’s playgrounds, benches, decorative structures and lighting. Its central attraction is an interactive dry fountain, which is expected to become a favorite spot for residents during the summer heat. The 650-million-tenge project was implemented jointly by Kazakhmys and the city administration.

It is worth recalling that on June 1 last year, the renovated Metallurgists’ Square was inaugurated in Zhezkazgan. Earlier in 2025, Satpayev saw the renovation of the Akbota kindergarten, while Zhezkazgan celebrated the opening of the new Zhiger sports complex and the country’s largest chess academy. Kazakhmys continues to systematically support social initiatives across the regions where it operates.
