Kazakhmys gradually suspends operations at production facilities for a comprehensive safety inspection

To strengthen industrial safety and occupational protection, the company’s management has decided to temporarily suspend technological processes at production sites with elevated risk levels. The shutdowns will take place in stages, following an approved schedule.

Schedule of operational suspensions:

·  From March 20: East-Zhezkazgan, Abyz, Sayak, Nurkazgan and Konyrat mines; Nurkazgan, Karagaili and Balkhash concentrator plants; the specialized repair and mechanical department, construction and installation division, foundry and mechanical plant and the specialized energy repair unit.

·  From March 21: South-Zhezkazgan, Akbastau, Khadzhi-Kongan, Shatyrkol and Zhaysan mines.

·  From March 22: West-Zhezkazgan mine.

·  From March 23: Zhylandy mine.

·  From March 24: Zhezkazgan concentrator plant.

·  At the Zhomart mine, which had been suspended earlier, inspections are ongoing.

A special commission has been established to conduct a detailed assessment of all operations to ensure full compliance with safety regulations. Production will resume only after all identified violations have been rectified and safe working conditions are formally confirmed.

During the suspension period, employees will continue to receive their full wages. This measure underscores the company’s commitment to occupational safety principles and its concern for employee well-being.

The Kazakhmys Group is consistently strengthening its safety management system across all facilities. As part of this initiative, the company will intensify oversight of regulatory compliance and introduce additional measures to further improve working conditions.
