Safety Above All: Kazakhmys conducts «Zher-2025» Command-and-Staff Drills
At Mine No. 57 of the East Zhezkazgan ore mine, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP held the «Zher-2025» national command-and-staff drills aimed at practicing coordinated actions in emergency situations.
According to the exercise scenario, a simulated earthquake caused a rock collapse inside the mine, followed by a fire in the administrative and utility complex.
Within a short period, an emergency response headquarters was established, ensuring coordination between Kazakhmys personnel and emergency services. Rescue teams inspected the affected area, extracted a mock victim and handed them over to a medical team. Fire units practiced extinguishing the blaze, containing its spread and organizing the evacuation of personnel.
The drills involved forces from the Department for Emergency Situations of Ulytau region, firefighting teams from Satpayev, ambulance crews, specialists from the Seriktes rescue service, and employees of the East, South and West Zhezkazgan mines.
Such exercises are conducted regularly at Kazakhmys industrial sites as part of the company’s systematic efforts to strengthen industrial safety and ensure staff preparedness for emergency situations.
