90 years since copper in karsakpay was first mined
13.09.2018
The history of this factory started in the first decades of the last century when the British became interested in Sary Arka lands. The opening of the factory in 1928 is a merit of our compatriot, a famous scientist Kanysh Satpayev. In 1942 the enterprise was reconstructed to military manufacturing and produced military equipment and parts. After 1973 Karsakpay manufacturing was refocused to metallurgic one, the main activity of the factory was casting raw iron products for Kazakhmys Holding LLC enterprises. The factory manufactures about 80 items of products as components for equipment used at mines, factories and plants of the company. Kazakhmys today is a leading international mining company. The Corporation’s activities include exploration, survey, concentration, processing and export of not only copper but other natural resources. It is impossible to imagine these operations without copper smelting and without Karsakpay factory where it all started. The day when copper was the first smelted in Karsakpay began in 1928 became significant not only for Kazakhmys but for entire Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan copper production has started that day. Karsakpay smelting factory with its 90 year-history is justly considered the pioneer of Kazakhstan’s non-ferrous industry.
