Reducing Our Carbon Footprint: We regularly monitor our carbon emissions and implement targeted strategies to reduce them. Our long-term ambition is to achieve carbon neutrality.
Ensuring environmental safety in our production processes is one of the top priorities of Kazakhmys Group of companies. The goal of Kazakhmys is consistently minimize the environmental impact of our production processes at every stage of technological cycle. We are committed to meeting and exceeding standards in the field of ecology as defined by environmental policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Annually, Kazakhmys Group of companies develop and implement tailored activities for each branch of the company to ensure the sustainable operation of key equipment and machinery. In addition, more than 2000 environmental protection measures totaling KZT 24 billion are developed and approved for the company by the authorized state bodies in the last 5 years.
Conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is mandatory for any planned activity undertaken by the Company. In 2025, the Company plans to develop 100 construction and reconstruction projects, among others, where the EIA procedure is scheduled to take place.
Project works are planned for installation and overhaul of aspiration and ventilation systems, construction and reconstruction of hydraulic engineering structures, liquidation of consequences during stockpile mining, as well as development of water disposal systems and other projects that will be implemented only after ensuring conditions for environmental protection.
