Kazakhmys strengthens social resilience: investing in people, regions and the future of the industryy
The Kazakhmys Corporation continues to implement a comprehensive social strategy aimed at enhancing the quality of life of its employees, their families and the regions in which it operates. The company consistently consolidates its internal social policy, placing a strong emphasis on safety, well-being and sustainable development.
«People are our most valuable capital. Caring for individuals, their families and their future is not merely a guiding principle, it constitutes the foundation of our strategy», - stated Alibek Aldongarov, Director for Organizational Development and Human Resource Management at Kazakhmys Holding LLP, during his address at the 4th International Forum on Human Capital Development called Human Capital Days.
At present, over 40,000 employees work across 14 mines, five processing plants, and two copper smelters located in Zhezkazgan, Karaganda, Balkhash and Shu. Kazakhmys functions as a system-forming enterprise and a major employer, upon whose stability the well-being of entire cities depends.
«We are developing not only industrial production but also the surrounding environment: schools, kindergartens, housing, sports facilities and healthcare services. This represents our responsibility to society and to each individual employee», - highlighted A. Aldongarov.
In 2025, the company’s social program budget exceeded KZT 12.4 bln, encompassing a wide range of initiatives, including:
· Housing support: since 2019, 280 apartments have been provided to employees, with an additional 202 service apartments planned for 2025;
· Voluntary medical insurance: over 139,000 individuals, including employees’ family members, are covered;
· Health improvement and children’s recreation: over 4,000 employees receive sanatorium treatment annually, while around 1,500 children attend summer camps;
· Support for veterans and persons with disabilities: over 2,700 individuals receive regular medical and social assistance on a monthly basis;
· Collective Agreement for 2025–2029: provides for expanded benefits related to childbirth, marriage, education and other significant life events.
In 2025, investments in occupational safety increased by 54% compared to the previous year. The company continues to introduce advanced labor protection standards and to modernize its workplaces accordingly.

Furthermore, under a Memorandum of Cooperation with the government, Kazakhmys has invested KZT 28.2 bln since 2022 in the development of Zhezkazgan and Satpayev. By the end of 2025, total investments are expected to reach KZT 36.3 bln. Over this period, the company has constructed and modernized schools, sports complexes, water intake facilities and various social and educational institutions.
