Kazakhmys Corporation has launched a large-scale transformation of its management structure and personnel reform. This was announced by Nurakhmet Nuriev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, during a reporting meeting with the workforce in Zhezkazgan. Employees from the Balkhash, Karaganda and Shatyrkul-Zhaisan production sites also participated online.

The changes aim to increase management efficiency, ensure rapid resolution of employee-related issues, including industrial safety, occupational health and social support and enhance transparency and accountability at all management levels.

As part of the reform, two management tiers will be eliminated: the position of General Director of Kazakhmys Corporation and the General Director of the Mining and Processing Complex.

The branch system will also be restructured, improving communication and accelerating decision-making processes within the company.

As a result of the changes, all production facilities will be reorganized according to technological and geographical principles. By June, the company plans to establish five independent production units under the new structure:

·                        Nurkazgan Mining Production

·                        Zhezkazgan Mining Production

·                        Karagaily Mining Production

·                        Balkhash Mining Production

·                        Shatyrkul-Zhaisan Mining Production

Each unit will be headed by an experienced leader with the necessary authority and an approved budget to manage operational activities, procurement, finance and human resources. The new management system will allow delegation of decision-making, granting each unit autonomy in handling production, social and labor issues.

During the working meeting, the Chairman of the Board thanked Oleg Kopytov, General Director of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, for his work and wished him success in his new role.

Additionally, a comprehensive restructuring of the occupational health and industrial safety division is planned. In this context, Yuriy Gudnin, Director of Industrial Safety, will leave the company.

The responsibilities of the company’s General Director will be divided into two blocks:

Core production: extraction, processing, technical maintenance.

Geology and development: exploration, efficient resource use, replenishment of ore reserves and strategic company development.

Nurakhmet Nuriev also introduced two Deputy Chairmen of the Board: Sayat Bakirov for production and Galym Nurzhanov for geology and development.

Acting General Directors of the production units were appointed as follows:

·                        Zhezkazgan Mining Production – Daniyar Zhanalinov

·                        Shatyrkul-Zhaisan Mining Production – Zhandos Smataev

·                        Nurkazgan Mining Production – Mukan Ungitbayev

·                        Balkhash Mining Production – Nurkanat Retayev

·                        Karagaily Mining Production – Kairat Shalmagambetov

During the transition period, the leaders of the new structures will reorganize processes, build effective interactions and ensure uninterrupted production operations. The adaptation phase and full operational setup in the new format are scheduled to be completed by June 1.
