Kazakhmys Corporation continues to provide comprehensive support to the families of miners who lost their lives, in accordance with the commitments outlined in the Collective Agreement and the company’s life insurance program.

The corporation has fully covered the outstanding debts owed by the families to second-tier banks and microfinance organizations. The total amount of these payments reached approximately KZT 90 mln. Following this assistance, the families will independently complete the formal loan settlements with financial institutions.

Earlier, Kazakhmys had already provided each family with compensation equal to ten annual salaries (ranging from KZT 84 to KZT 142 mln) as well as an additional 550 Monthly Calculation Indices (KZT 2.2 mln) to cover funeral expenses.

In addition, the insurance company «KM Life» Life Insurance Company JSC paid 100 MCIs to each family for burial costs.

Families will also receive monthly insurance payments for loss of a breadwinner, ranging from KZT 524,000 to 951,000, until the children reach the age of 23. These payments will be annually indexed to inflation.

Meanwhile, Kazakhmys is currently reviewing additional measures, including employment opportunities for family members and payment of tuition fees for children studying at Kazakhstani universities.
