Kazakhmys signs new Collective Agreement strengthening employee social protection
On January 22, 2025, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP officially signed a new collective agreement for the period 2025–2029. The updated document reflects not only proposals from company management and trade unions but also the direct wishes of employees. The 2025–2029 collective agreement is designed to enhance the social protection of staff and further develop the company’s corporate social policy.
One of the key achievements is the significant expansion of support measures for employees and their families. Many of these changes were initiated by the company itself, underscoring its commitment to investing in employee welfare.
Among the innovations in the collective agreement: benefits for the birth of a child have been increased fivefold compared to the previous agreement. Similar benefits are also provided for employees entering into marriage. New support measures have also been introduced for employees caring for children with special needs.
As Nurakhmet Nuriyev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, emphasized, this is not merely a corporate document but the result of painstaking work, complex discussions, and a thorough understanding of internal operations. The signing of the new collective agreement will elevate employee welfare to a new level, providing additional social protection for staff and their families.
«We are all one large team and each of us is invested in ensuring that people work in safe conditions. Workplace safety is our top priority. The second priority is employee social protection. The third is enterprise productivity, which sustains the economy and supports all the positive initiatives we are laying out today», - N.Nuriyev stressed.
The company also highlighted the importance of collaboration with trade unions, which played a crucial role in developing the new agreement. Their contribution to maintaining social stability and raising employee awareness of labor rights will continue to be strengthened.
According to trade union leaders, this document is among the best in recent years, as it emphasizes increasing employer social responsibility while taking into account proposals from trade unions and the direct wishes of employees.
The new collective agreement reflects Kazakhmys’ commitment to remaining a socially responsible employer and lays the foundation for the company’s sustainable development in the future.
Beyond the agreement itself, Kazakhmys is allocating substantial financial resources to other social programs. For instance, starting in 2025, employees with standard working conditions will be included in the existing voluntary medical insurance scheme. This year, over 200 company-owned apartments will be transferred free of charge to employees. Additionally, targeted social assistance is provided to certain categories of staff and funds are allocated for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities.
