Kazakhmys at the «City of Industrial Professions» festival: investing in the future of Metallurgy

From February 11 to 15, Astana is hosting the City of Industrial Professions festival, which brings together the country’s leading employers. For the Kazakhmys Group, participation in the event is an opportunity to showcase its advanced technologies, educational programs and commitment to social responsibility.

The «House of Metallurgists» pavilion provided a meeting place for future specialists to engage with the world of large-scale metallurgy. Visitors experienced a VR tour of the Zhezkazgan Copper Smelting Plant, immersing themselves in real production processes. This interactive format generated significant interest, particularly among young attendees.

The Kazakhmys Polytechnic College also presented training installations demonstrating the key stages of ore processing: crushing, flotation, smelting and copper electrolysis. Using these installations, college students showed how some of the purest copper in the world is produced.

On the second day of the festival, the pavilion was visited by Nurakhmet Nuriyev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP. He toured the exhibits and discussed the college’s development plans with students.

Over the past three years, over 6,500 students have participated in educational programs and practical training at Kazakhmys facilities. In 2025, the company plans to invest over KZT 3 bln in the development of its colleges. All graduates from these programs are guaranteed employment within the company’s divisions.

Additionally, the «University Studies – Work in Industry» program supports employees pursuing higher education at leading technical universities in Kazakhstan. Memoranda of cooperation have already been signed with Satpayev Kazakh National Research Technical University, Karaganda Technical University and other universities across the country.

Kazakhmys strives to remain a reliable and socially responsible employer. The new Collective Agreement lays the foundation for stability and growth, while a competitive benefits package makes Kazakhmys an attractive workplace for thousands of specialists.

The City of Industrial Professions festival is more than an exhibition, it is an opportunity to meet future colleagues and invite young talent to build their careers in large-scale metallurgy with Kazakhmys.
