To this end, Kazakhmys Corporation and the Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, accompanied by a joint plan of activities and sporting events to be implemented in Ulytau region.

«Today we signed a memorandum to ensure mutual support and to promote table tennis through joint projects and other forms of collaboration. This year we are planning several major events, including the open national tournament ‘KAZAKHMYS OPEN’ and the first-ever National Table Tennis Championship in the history of independent Kazakhstan, which will take place in Zhezkazgan», -
stated Danil Pak, General Secretary of the Table Tennis Federation of Kazakhstan, during the memorandum signing ceremony.

In addition, the partnership foresees training camps for athletes from Ulytau region, a coaching seminar featuring Honored Coaches of Kazakhstan, master classes with distinguished athletes and participants of the 2016, 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games, as well as other sports-related initiatives.

«We organize youth tournaments, develop elite sports and coaching expertise, and train professional referees. The support of Kazakhmys enables us to advance these objectives and to elevate our sport to a higher level», - emphasized Danil Pak.

According to Saken Shayakhmetov, Managing Director for Sustainable Development and Communications at Kazakhmys Corporation, the signed memorandum represents an important opportunity to continue implementing projects that enhance social well-being and foster regional development, particularly in Ulytau region.

«Earlier this year, we launched the Zhiger Sports and Recreation Center. It includes a fully accredited table tennis hall that meets all national standards and will serve as a venue for competitions and daily training sessions. Further cooperation with the national Federation will give a significant boost to the development of table tennis in the region and help popularize the sport. We hope that through this partnership, Zhezkazgan and subsequently our other regions will take their place on Kazakhstan’s sporting map, eventually nurturing athletes of international caliber», - concluded Saken Shayakhmetov.

Furthermore, Kazakhmys has begun designing a new sports and recreation complex in the city of Balkhash, which will also include facilities for table tennis.

Currently, over 260,000 people across Kazakhstan engage in table tennis on a regular basis. Of these, over 10,500 athletes train daily under the guidance of approximately 400 coaches. It is noteworthy that youth sports schools for table tennis operate in all 20 regions of Kazakhstan, admitting children as young as six years old.
