Nurakhmet Nuriev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, held a meeting with John Bradford, Vice President of the Colorado School of Mines.

The discussion focused on three key areas of cooperation: the establishment of a joint geophysical laboratory at the Geological Cluster, the opening of a branch of the Colorado School of Mines in Zhezkazgan and exploring opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional retraining and the implementation of scientific initiatives.

Today's meeting marks a significant milestone in the development of Kazakhstan’s scientific potential and the strengthening of international partnerships. Kazakhmys’ initiative to open the first-ever branch of the Colorado School of Mines outside the United States underscores the company’s ambitious strategy to create a new model of industry-focused education. This initiative represents not merely an investment in workforce development but a substantial step toward forming the intellectual core of the domestic mining and metallurgical sector, enabling young Kazakh specialists to receive world-class training without leaving their home region.

It should be recalled that in December 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between Kazakhmys Barlau and the Colorado School of Mines. Under this memorandum, the parties agreed on knowledge exchange, professional retraining, and joint scientific research as the part of priority projects.
