Kazakhmys Holding to construct housing for Young Energy Sector specialists

Kazakhmys Holding has launched a new initiative aimed at supporting young professionals in the fuel and energy sector (FES). In 2025, Vladimir Zhumanbayev, Director of FES Management at Kazakhmys Holding, approved the construction of the first five-story «Comfort+» residential building comprising 80 apartments in the settlement of Topar, Karaganda region. In subsequent phases (2026–2027), the housing program will expand to include the cities of Balkhash and Zhezkazgan. These residences will be allocated to employees of the Balkhash and Zhezkazgan Thermal Power Plants, as well as the State District Power Plant Topar LLP.

Temirlan Utegenov, CEO of Kazakhmys Energy LLP, emphasized that the project is being implemented with the support of Eduard Ogay, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kazakhmys Holding.

«We are confident that creating comfortable conditions for both work and daily life will help attract and retain talented young specialists while also enhancing the prestige of vocational professions», - remarked Temirlan Utegenov.

The initiative aligns with the strategic direction outlined by the Head of State: in his address, the President of Kazakhstan designated 2025 as the Year of Vocational Professions, highlighting the importance of a qualified workforce for the country’s economy and the promotion of respect for labor.

Kazakhmys is also actively developing educational projects. In 2024, the company launched the «Miras» program, designed to train specialists in the energy and mining sectors. The program provides for higher education funded by the company, followed by guaranteed employment within the FES enterprises.

The company believes that a comprehensive approach, combining professional training, social support and housing provision, will address workforce shortages and cultivate a new generation of professionals ready to contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s fuel and energy sector.
