On February 17, a rock collapse occurred at the Zhomart mine of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, located in the Zhanaarka district of Ulytau region. As a result of the incident, seven workers were trapped underground. Communication with them has been lost due to damaged cables.

Rescue operations are underway at the site. The efforts involve 21 emergency service personnel and 7 units of equipment from the Department of Emergency Situations, as well as two rescue teams from the “Seriktes” emergency response service.
