Over 100 young professionals are set to begin working at Kazakhmys as part of the company’s initiatives to attract talented youth to the industrial sector, said Alibek Aldongarov, Director for Organizational Development and Human Resources Management at Kazakhmys Holding LLP, during a panel session at the City of Industrial Professions festival.

Kazakhmys Polytechnic and Technological Colleges play a key role in this effort by offering opportunities for those who wish to build a career in the mining and metallurgical industry. All students at these colleges receive company-funded scholarships and paid internships during their third and fourth years of study.

The «University Studies – Work in Industry» program allows participants to obtain higher education free of charge. Through this initiative, the company plans to employ over 100 young specialists within the next year.

Another project, «Online Industrial Internship» has helped students from colleges and universities across Kazakhstan gain practical experience. A total of 1,159 participants completed online internships across five professions and the most successful among them have joined Kazakhmys’ external talent pool.

Over the past three years, 6,542 students from educational institutions in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries have completed academic, introductory, industrial and pre-graduation internships, as well as dual-training programs at Kazakhmys facilities. During the same period, 617 graduates of Kazakhmys colleges have been employed in the company’s divisions.

Modern mining and metallurgy rely on innovation, automation and environmentally sustainable approaches. One of Kazakhmys’ key goals is to demonstrate these principles to the younger generation through its own example.
