Tursynbek Makishev was born in the settlement of Zhezdy, Karaganda Region. The family has four children, and Tursynbek is the middle one. His father, the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, worked in the agricultural industry after returning from the front. His father was an accountant and economist in the sanitary and epidemiological service. After graduating from school in 1980, Tursynbek Makishev entered the City vocational training college No. 8 on the specialty “welder,” and in 1990 got a job at te mine, where he spent his early years. At that time, he did not think about career: he thought only about work. First, he got a job as a welder, then a chief fitter, and in 2002, he became a shaft sinker. For thirty years, Tursynbek has been working at mine. He loves his profession and does not deny that there were difficulties that still were solved. Now Tursynbek is the 6th grade shaft sinker at the underground section No. 31 of mine No. 73/75 at the Western mine of the branch of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, Zhezkazgantsvetmet PA, and has a title of “Qazaqstannyń Eńbek Eri” (Hero of Labor of Kazakhstan) awarded in 2019. As a foreman, Tursynbek Makishev bears special responsibility for his employees: he is responsible for their safety and timely fulfillment of the plan. He is the person who has to create the necessary moral and psychological climate. The working day of Tursynbek begins at 7 a.m. when he obtains a work order and personal protective means, and in one hour goes down to mine with the employees, where he starts work. His duties also include checking the readiness of the drilling device for operation. Advice of Tursynbek to young specialists: “Work and work again. Work honestly and conscientiously and help colleagues. It is important to respect each other. For every employee in any field, the most important quality is honesty.” “I have no hobbies, but in my free time I like to work in the garden: I recently planted a pear tree, an apple tree, grapes, a cherry tree, and currants. Now I take care of the plants so that to get a good harvest for me and my relatives. I like it.”  Tursynbek Makishev tries to spend time with his family. He and his wife have been married for more than thirty years and have raised three children. His son is 29 years old and he works at a public service center in the capital, the middle daughter is studying at the university, and the youngest son goes to school.
