The Health Care Department of the Karaganda Region has developed an action plan aimed at enhancing the material and technical resources of the regional health care facilities, about three billion tenges of which falls on the cities of Zhezkazgan, Satpayev, and Balkhash. As part of this action plan, the Memorandum of Cooperation in Fighting COVID-19 was signed with the Kazakhmys Corporation. The Memorandum provides for the participation of Kazakhmys in the re-equipment of health care facilities, namely, the purchase of additional medical equipment and pharmaceuticals for the medical fund of the health care facilities of three cities, organization of transportation to ensure round-the-clock movement of ambulatory medical staff, etc. The total amount constituted approximately 1,0 bln tenges. As part of the implementation of the Memorandum, in the coming days, the delivery of 1200 oxygen concentrators for the Karaganda Region is expected, over 200 of which will be distributed to hospitals in Zhezkazgan, Satpayev, and Balkhash. For the mentioned cities, the Corporation will purchase, among other things, 10 lung ventilators, 3 vibroacoustic devices; by autumn, 3 systems for the distribution of medical gases (oxygen) will be installed in hospitals of the cities. The company has also allocated funds for the technical equipment of an infectious hospital with a capacity of 250 beds at the premises of the dormitory of Zhezkazgan University, which was staffed and opened this year on July 8. In addition to the specified equipment, 3 computer tomographs (CT) will be supplied, one for each city. The Memorandum is not limited to these activities. Kazakhmys plans to continue the joint work with health authorities to identify and cover the needs in the fight against CVI and inform the public of the work performed. “Today, it is more important than ever to be together, taking care of each other.
