KARAGANDA FOUNDRY AND MACHINE-BUILDING PLANT: A SYMBOL OF QUALITY AND RELIABILITY
14.02.2022
In 1956,
the plant was renamed the Karaganda Machine-Building Plant No. 2. The
enterprise became the only one in the Kazakh SSR, where mining equipment was
produced. Then the
plant began to produce PBS buses (Pavlovsk
Bus Plant) and electric tugs, built an oxygen shop, set up
serial production of construction cranes and agricultural machinery, created a
plant for the repair of mining equipment. However, the collapse of the USSR
reduced almost all factory achievements to zero. 1999 was
the year of revival for the Karaganda Foundry and Machine-Building Plant.
Kazakhmys has ordered the company to manufacture equipment and spare parts. A
year later, the plant became part of a large company. In
2000-2003, Kazakhmys allocated about 550 thousand dollars for the modernization
of the machine park, improvement and strengthening of the material, technical
and repair base of the plant. By 2005, the range of products manufactured by
the company exceeded 3000 types. The plant
started manufacturing suspensions and pins for BelAP
(Belarusian
Automobile Plant) vehicles of various carrying capacities, in parallel, the
production of spare parts for an impressive list of imported high-performance
self-propelled mining equipment appeared in the arsenal. The production of
conveyors and complex equipment for the processing plant was mastered. The
most important year for the plant was 2014: a large-scale modernization of the
enterprise began. More than 12 billion tenge was spent on this project. As a
result, the plant has changed beyond recognition: numerical control machines
have replaced manual labor. This made it possible to automate all processes and
increase production volumes. Along with the quantity, the quality of products
has also increased, as well as the ability to make unique parts. Modernization
took place without stopping production. And today the plant has become a symbol
of quality and reliability and enters into contracts for huge sums with
domestic and foreign partners. The range of products includes more than 7
thousand items. The main consumers are enterprises of the mining,
metallurgical, processing and oilfield industries. Now the
plant employs more than 800 people. In 2021 alone, the Karaganda Foundry and
Machine-Building Plant produced finished products worth 12.4 billion tenge. The
growth dynamics of third-party customers from 2019 to 2021 increased by 24.7
times. In 2021, contracts were concluded with third-party companies in the
amount of 3.6 billion tenge.
