A unique Medical Center in Jezkazgan city was commissioned on August 10, 1997.

The Podrobnosti newspaper, founded by the Kazakhmys Corporation, was published on October 17, 1997.

The Museum of History and Production, named after K. I. Satbayev (founded on August 01, 1997), was opened in Jezkazgan city on January 23, 1998.

A “Miner” educational and production complex was created as part of the Jezkazgan Agrarian Technical College (ZHATK) in December 1998. The Jezkazgan Polytechnic College (ZHPTK) was established based on the ZHATK in 2005. It included the “Miner” Training and Production Plant (UPK) that was renamed into the “Mining” department.

The construction of a cultural center, built on the Kazakhmys Corporation’s initiative, has been completed in Satbayev city.

The Jezkazgan Medical Center was opened on March 15, 2000.

Medical Center was a structural subdivision of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP until 2014. The clinic has been transformed into a separate legal entity with Kazakhmys Corporation LLP trust management since 2015.

The Center has included a polyclinic in Satbayev city, health centers of Corporation Kazakhmys LLP in Satbayev and Jezkazgan cities, of the Zhomart Mine, except for the health center of the copper-smelting plant, since 2014. The trauma clinic of Satbayev city (the former medical and sanitary unit) has joined the Medical Center since 2015.

Currently, the Center provides a wide range of medical services - from primary health care to high-tech operations and cooperates with leading clinics in Kazakhstan and with the Uni-clinic in Freiburg (Germany).

The opening of the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle in Jezkazgan city, built with the Kazakhmys Corporation’s charitable funds and donated to the clergy, took place on June 26, 2001.

The new mosque, erected at the “Kazakhmys” charitable funds in Satbayev city, was donated to the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Kazakhstan in 2002.

The construction of a Sports and Recreation Complex (SRC) in Satbayev city began in 2002 and is considered a large-scale social project. SRC includes a 50 m swimming pool (700 seats), an ice palace (2600 seats), an indoor football stadium (2500 seats), 2 gyms, table tennis hall. The SRC was opened in 2006. Later, in 2014, the SRC was donated to the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Karaganda region.

A sports complex for taekwondo classes was commissioned in Jezkazgan city in 2003, built with funds from the Kazakhmys Corporation.

It was donated to the “Olympus” Jezkazgan Public Fund for Youth and Sports in 2014, and it still exists.

The Kazakhmys Corporation financed the overhaul and reconstruction of the central city hospital No. 1 in Satbayev city in 2003.

Opening and gratuitous transfer to the Orthodox St. Nicholas Church’s clergy in Satbayev city in 2004, built with “Kazakhmys” charitable funds.

The sanatorium named after R. Kenbaev, owned by Kazakhmys, underwent significant over- haul and reconstruction in Balkhash city in 2007. The sanatorium was transferred to the republican property on a gratuitous basis in 2018; at this moment, it is a branch of the Repub- lican educational and “Baldauren” Health-Improving Center in Balkhash city.

A complete reconstruction of the “Metallurg” Sports Complex in Balkhash city, commissioned in 1965, was carried out in 2007; was installed a tribune and an artificial green surface on the football field. A football team has been created at the sports complex, participating in the second league in the Karaganda region. The “Metallurg” Sports Complex was transferred free of charge to Balkhash’s communal property in 2014.

The opening of the Technological College of Kazakhmys Corporation took place in Jezkazgan city on May 27, 2008.

The ChU Polytechnic College of the Corporation “Kazakhmys” was opened in Balkhash city on September 14, 2009. Kazakhmys Corporation LLP is the founder.

In 2011, in Karaganda’s city, the Stela of Independence, monuments to K. I. Satbayev (on Privokzalnaya Square), K. R. Amanzholov (at the intersection of Saken and Krivoguz streets), Kazybek bi (on the square in front of the regional akimat) was erected at the Corporation’s expense.

On October 7, 2011, on the Corporation’s initiative, the Association of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of the Jezkazgan Region was created to increase employment of the region’s population develop enterprises interacting with Kazakhmys.

On November 22, 2011, the Tennis Center and Ice Palace were opened in Karaganda, which were also built at the Corporation’s expense.

Within the framework of the signed memorandums with the akimats of the Karaganda and East Kazakhstan regions on cooperation in the period from 2012 to 2014, 40 social facilities were transferred to the communal property of the Karaganda region and 13 social facilities of the Kazakhmys Corporation LLP (houses culture, kindergartens, stadiums, sports complexes, etc.).

Thanks to the financial support of Kazakhmys, in 2015, 20 km from the Baikonur station, a memorial stele was erected in honor of the Kazakh batyrs who won a decisive victory in the battle over the Dzungars in 1727 (Bulantin battle). The stele was installed in the year of the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate.

At the expense of Kazakhmys funds, in 2015, a program for greening the Jezkazgan and Satbayev cities was launched. Its implementation is calculated until 2025.

In December 2018, the Uly Dala hypermarket was opened in the Kengir village, 10 km from Jezkazgan city, built with the financial support of the Kazakhmys Corporation. Also, 10 minimarkets in Satbayev city and 8 minimarkets in Jezkazgan city were opened during 2019 – 2020.

The main directions of the five-year (2019-2023) Program of sustainable socio-economic development of the cities of Jezkazgan, Balkhash, Satbayev, and the Ulytau district of the Karaganda region are water supply, housing, and communal services, landscaping, housing stock, public safety, education, culture, sports, tourism, healthcare. The program is being implemented jointly with the Kazakhmys Corporation.

The company invests in the development of engineering and social infrastructure in monoci- ties. With the assistance of Kazakhmys, 131 projects are being implemented (the joint budget of the company and the republican budget). Among them is the reconstruction of water supply and heating networks and gas supply, housing construction, repair of roofs, facades, roads, public places’ improvement, solution of emergency houses’ problems and repair of social facilities, safety, and environmental issues.

In 2020, 131 apartments received large families of Kazakhmys employees as gifts from the company in cities and other localities (Jezkazgan, Satbayev, Balkhash, Karaganda, Karagailly, Topar, Molodezhny). В 2020 году 131 квартиры получили многодетные семьи работников Казахмыс в дар от компании в городах и других населенных пунктах присутствия (Жезказган, Сатпаев, Балхаш, Караганда, Карагайлы, Топар, Молодежный).

With the financial support of “Kazakhmys” in 2020, a new office was opened of computed tomography in Satbayev city. An additional C.T. scan was purchased and installed in Jezkazgan city.

In 2020, at the expense of Corporation Kazakhmys LLP, GPI completed projects on the Eskulin- sky groundwater deposit (completion of construction, transfer, and reconstruction of the existing water conduit) to provide the Jezkazgan and Satbayev cities with high-quality drinking water based on which the state allocated funding and started construction installation work.

Kazakhmys Group allocated more than 17 billion tenge in 2020 to implement preventive measures at work, protect workers’ health, and fight against coronavirus infection in the presence regions.

On the initiative and with the “Kazakhmys” assistance in 2020, research was carried out. A professional development school was launched to improve secondary school teachers’ qualifi- cations in the Jezkazgan, Satbayev, Balkhash, and Ulytau district.

In January 2021, at the initiative of Kazakhmys, a pilot program was launched to improve residents of Satbayev, which is part of the plan for the social and economic development of regions. Implementing all measures within three years will require about 5.5 billion tenge with joint funding from the state and the Corporation.

As one of the measures to support the health care system in the region of presence, Kazakhmys decided to purchase medical workers’ housing to attract highly qualified medical personnel. In the spring of 2021, 52 apartments are planned to be transferred to medical workers in the Jezkazgan (20), Satbayev (12), Balkhash (20) cities.
